The trial was coordinated by a “Trial Coordinator’ and at each site one teacher acted as a “Facilitator.’ The latter was the instructor of the course offered by the respective university at this site. Each facilitator took the responsibility of two student groups. In technical matters each site (the facilitator and the students) was supported by a “Local Technical Support Team.’ Two support functions were implemented at trial level (i.e. not at local sites but centrally for all the participants). These were “Pedagogical Support Blog’ and “Technical Support Blog’, which were used to provide information and guidance to facilitators and students during the trial, on pedagogical issues and on technical issues (i.e. related to tools used), respectively. These blogs were managed by two different sites.
