Quality takes time, and an open development process increases it! Therefore, we opened up a soureforge project, where you can download, evaluate, and maybe even contribute to our development work within iCamp.
Why did we go for SourceForge? From four software development platforms reviewed (sourceforge, berlios, eduforge, and the do-it-yourself solution based on gforge). We took into account the number of portal users, the number of similar projects (in the topic ‘education’), portal lifetime, system Location, source and portal code control, setup costs, operational costs, available services, access to log files for analysis, usability of the development interface, access speed from Europe, and exit costs. These criteria were weighted, and the portals evaluated against them. SourceForge ranked best with 56 points on our evaluation scheme.
